ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

WARC November 2 Day Dressage Jackpot 2017

Another year and another lovely 2 day competition in November is in the bag. WARC is perennially fortune to enjoy the support of riders who arrive with positive attitudes and helping hands; competitions are a delight when filled with capable, friendly and amendable riders. WARC thanks all competitors who made the trip to Warrnambool. WARC also thanks our judges, Lyn Roycroft, Kaye Clayfield, Sue Short, Cherie Edmonds, Marg Allen, Georgina Gubbins and Meredith Phillips who provided wonderful feedback for our riders over the weekend. Judging can often be a thankless task and we appreciate your efforts. WARC also thanks Leon Baggett for providing swift access to results all weekend; we are lucky to have such a superb mind on hand for our events.

This year Yvonne Kane was designated event organiser and the event ran without a hitch - well done Yvie! Poor Yvie may not ever be able to shrug the role of event coordinator off after this year! Special mention must also go to the ever faithful Paul Wynne who kept us all fed and watered over the weekend. Our canteen would be lost without Paul!

The event, as always, ran without a hitch thanks to WARC's dedicated team who are small but mighty. Thank you to all WARC members who assisted over the weekend. In particular, thanks goes to Lauren Wynne, Heather Goddard, Meaghan Johnston, Siggi McLeod, Jill Ritchie and Ailiche Goddard-Clegg. Thank you all for your dedication.

WARC has been fortunate again to receive fantastic support from these local businesses: Elders Mortlake, Warrnambool Party Hire, Warrnambool Veterinary Group, South West Equine, Murray Golburn, Landmark Warrnambool,Cherwood Equine Supplies, Terang Co-Op, Bainbridge Stockfeeds, Multicube, CRT, Zoetis and Virbac. We thank our generous sponsors for their support and urge all members and supporters to buy local.

Now onward to CCC!

WARC November 2 Day Dressage Jackpot 2016

WARC received record entries for our annual November Dressage Jackpot this year; the draw was full to the brim! The November Jackpot is an opportunity to compete in a relaxed and quiet environment to round out the year. WARC prides itself on a friendly competition atmosphere and this year was no different, with cheerful and encouraging competitors.

The Warrnambool weather gods were in a particularly good mood and delivered delightful weather. The weekend was replete with spectators soaking in the serenity and marvelling at the elegance of the surroundings. A WARC event is never complete without a touch of elegance and this year Jill Ritchie outdid herself; wine barrels, vases of flowers and tablecloths added a dash of refinement to the day.

The event, as always, ran without a hitch thanks to WARC's dedicated team. In a small club it is only a handful of members who make the magic happen. In particular, thanks goes to Jill Ritchie, Heather Goddard and Meaghan Johnston, who each executed a large portion of the event. Thanks and eternal gratitude also goes to our tireless men helpers Pip Ritchie, Paul Wynne, Tom Luxton and Barry Jackson.

WARC has been fortunate again to receive local support through sponsorship. We urge all members and supporters to support these local businesses. Heartfelt thanks goes to WARC sponsors: Summerwood Park Australian Stock Horse Stud, Elders Mortlake, Warrnambool Party Hire, Warrnambool Veterinary, Landmark Warrnambool, Bade Ness Rural, and Horseland Warrnambool for their generous support of our event.

Congratulations to all winners!

WARC April Dressage Jackpot 2016

This year WARC's annual 2 day April Dressage Jackpot was held at the Emu Creek Pony Club grounds in Terang. Riders relaxed between tests under the veranda, taking in the serene Terang vista and enjoying the magnificent spread put on by the WARC canteen. The weather held together and riders enjoyed a weekend of friendly competition - which culminated in the Sunday Jackpot where $200 cash level prizes were up for grabs. Heartfelt thanks goes to WARC sponsors: Clark Rubber, Lava St Vet Clinic, Moonlight Lighting, Murray Golburn and Trendset Kitchens for their generous support of our event. Thanks also to Genevieve Rounds for her sponsorship efforts. With another successful event under our belt a final thanks goes to our tireless men helpers - Pip Ritchie & Paul Wynne - and our stalwart WARC members - Jill Ritchie, Heather Goddard, Meaghan Johnston and Tracy McConnell - for successfully coordinating another fabulous event.

We are small but we are mighty!

WARC February Rally with Andrea Riedel-Carrison 2016

WARC hosted the charming Andrea Riedel for our February Rally, which was held at Kerry's beautiful Box Hill in Koroit. We had an abundance of eager riders who soaked up all the knoweldge they could while with Andrea.

Andrea is a WARC favourite because of the questions she poses; where is your right shoulder? Is it higher than your left!? Where are your hands? Why does your contact keep slipping? With these questions Andrea asks riders to think deeply about how the various parts of their bodies are positioned on their horses. Isolating your right shoulder and attempting to lower it in order to straighten up is a difficult task indeed. Once mastered though the newly straight riders feel as though they can accomplish anything!

To top it off Andrea is a ball of positive energy. WARC riders left brimming with renrewed knoweldge and confidence. Thanks Andrea!

WARC Dressage Jackpot 28th and 29th November 2015

WARC's Dressage Jackpot was another resounding success this year. WARC prides itself on offering a weekend of friendly and supportive competition in a calm and stress free environment; this year was no different. Lovely weather, supportive judges and delightful competitors helped make this November Jackpot one of the best.

The club has been fortunate to benefit from the continued support from Elders Mortlake, Horseland, Landmark Warrnambool, Bade Ness Rural, Warrnambool Party Hire and The Vet Group Warrnambool. We thank our sponsors wholeheartedly.

The biggest thanks goes to the team of WARC workerbees. WARC must earnestly thank our very helpful team of men - Paul Wynne, Barry Jackson & Pip Ritchie - who exhibit such diverse skills. Our men go from pegging out arenas to manning our canteen with grace and poise (thanks Paul). Special mention also goes to Heather Goddard for her superb management of the event and Meaghan Johnston for her skillful scoring.

Final thanks to all riders from the district who continue to support our event. See you all next year!

Feb & March Rallies with Deb McMaugh 2015

The club has enjoyed Deb McMaugh's instruction for our past two rallies - and what a great way to start the year it has been!

Deb has used a variety of pole exercises to test the flexibility, control and elasticity of our horse and rider partnerships. The canter excercise, where 2 poles that are set 5 strides apart must be negotiated with 5 strides, then 6, then 4, has been a particular favourite. It has been a pleasure to see our riders tackle a variety of challenges over the past two months. Deb has offered WARC a different type of instruction that has tested the physical and mental agility of our horses and riders. Enjoyable, challenging and rewarding instruction - thanks Deb!

Golden Spurs Dressage Results 2015

Our WARC riders have enjoyed some great success at several competitions around the district recently.

Our newest member Pip Rounds has had a great start to the season with her clever and calm pony Elm Tree Country Style. Pip and Whiskers won the level 4 Jackpot at the Golden Spurs Round 2 (GSR2) held at Freshwater Creek. The pair followed this great success by winning the level 4 Jackpot again the day after at Golden Spurs Round 3 (GSR3) hosted by Westcost ARC. A great weekend out for Pip and Whiskers, well done!

Yvie Kane also had a great weekend out on Wilhelm. Yvie was well supported by our club members and survived the heat to finish up with 10th in 5.3, 5th in 5.6 and 8th in the Jackpot at GSR2. Yvie and Wilhelm followed this result up with a 2nd in test 5.6 and 8th in the Jackpot the following day at GSR3. Well done Yvie and Wilhelm!

Kerry Box and Aurum Shining Gillie continue to impress, coming 6th in test 2.3 at GSR2 and 4th in test 2.6 at the GSR3. Kerry and Gillie are certainly a pair to watch!

TTT Dressage 2014

WARC sent two teams down to the Top Teams Trophy Dressage, which was held in November at The National Equestrian Centre in Werribee. Our club members enjoyed a wonderful weekend camping with their horses - and with the addition of Jill's tablecloth, Julie's vase of flowers and Belinda's webber BBQ we certainly camped is style! All team members lent a hand plaiting and preparing the horses and the WARC cheer squad was full of celebration after each test. What a great weekend.

To top it off our team 'The Dark Horses' finished third overall in the teams event! Congratulations to our riders Kerry Box riding Aurum Shining Gillie, Ailiche Goddard-Clegg riding Gifted Rainbow, Megan Burchell riding Nawarrah Park Romeo and Joan Wynne riding William Wynsor!

We also had some terrific individual results:

Kerry Box riding Aurum Shining Gillie came 2nd in 3.3, 8th in 3.6 and 2nd in the Jackpot
